Children’s Dentist Portland

Get to Know Steven Pike, DDS, MPH

General Dentist Practice Limited to Children

Our practice and the philosophy of compassionate, scientifically backed pediatric dental care comes from Dr. Pike’s father, Dr. Allan Pike, and for the last 15+ years, Dr. Steven Pike has proudly carried on his legacy while expanding upon it. He loves having a positive impact on kids and their families and is very proud to be able to contribute to our community in a meaningful way.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Pike decided to become a dentist when he turned 30 after earning a master’s degree in public health. He was working as an environmental scientist when his parents came to visit, and they pitched the idea that he could become a dentist and work with his father. He hasn’t looked back since! It was a very good decision, and he had the joy of working with his father for 14 years.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Before going to dental school, Dr. Pike received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University. He eventually attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry to obtain his DDS.

He started working at his father’s practice in 2007, going on to complete countless hours of continuing education and serve on the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry conference committee. Dr. Pike has also studied clinical hypnosis and is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Oregon Dental Association.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

A Portland native, Dr. Pike has been married for over 15 years and has one daughter. His wife is a former history professor, and his daughter hasn’t quite chosen her path yet (she’ll be a great artist or engineer but doesn’t seem to have an interest in becoming a fourth-generation dentist).

When he isn’t taking care of our young patients, Dr. Pike likes mountain biking, playing tennis, cooking great pizzas, and (like any self-respecting dad) telling bad jokes.
